A downloadable game for Windows

You wake in a dungeon cell with a pounding head and no memory of how you got there. The castle staff consider you little threat. That is their first mistake.

Lure a maid or guard into the cell, take her uniform, and use your new disguise to explore the castle. Complete duties to earn trust and rank, enter restricted areas, and uncover clues about the curse hanging over the castle.

Every uniform opens new doors. Every task makes you better at your role—but the castle gradually rewrites the body and identity of anyone who works within it.

Rise through both the maid and guard ranks, investigate the castle’s hidden rooms, and piece together what happened before the curse erases the person you used to be.

Features:

  • Two interconnected progression paths: Maid and Guard
  • Duties, tools, promotions, and changing uniforms
  • A task journal, investigation notes, and clue tracking
  • Restricted areas unlocked through rank and exploration
  • A magical shrinking ring with hidden routes and new dangers
  • Multiple endings determined by the clues you discover
  • A single-player, story-focused RPG Maker adventure

This is an early playtest build. Progression, dialogue, balance, artwork, and some scenes remain in development.

Content notice: All characters are adults. Castlebound contains imprisonment, amnesia, non-graphic violence, involuntary magical body and identity transformation, coercive role-conditioning, and size-changing peril.

I don’t know how to find the blind Corners for promotion rank 3

Second Floor Grand Landing, formal Princess Wing corridor, service corridor; report to Holo.

A neat little game.

It's quite rough, some design is a bit questionable, like how one of the Quests you have to do for the next Promotion is the same one you had to do for the previous Promotion, it's quite confusing on what to do and where to go a in a bunch of them, it's way too generous with letting you avoid the TF, the maps are too big and with a somewhat confusing layout in how they are connected, and the protagonist has no shown thoughts in what is going on, what he's doing, why he suddenly would decide to put on a Maid Dress, etc.

Still, it's a completed game, and the idea of gathering all the pieces of evidence to uncover not just what happened, but who the Protagonist is, was pretty neat.

Hope to see more from the author in the future~.

For the map size, I wanted it to feel spacious and fit together well, without it feeling like everything was crammed together. I will admit that, for the map size, I was feeling maybe a bit too ambitious.

I was working on and reworking this game for a while, and I wound up making it and trashing it through a few RPG Makers, so I may have been too easy on the tf part and didn't force it more. Something that could be a simple hard mode setting, or a lore/hard mode.

As for why, it was in-world; we can go with just to escape.

Thanks for the feedback, i worked this over abit and wound up kinda losing my mind doing some of this coding for it. I'm working on another one atm in Godot. But it's very much in the alpha stages.

Good luck with the Godot Project!
It offers a lot more possibilities on what can do, though it does take time to learn to use it properly XD.
Power has a Price after all, and Complexity if the Cost of something more advanced than RPGM.
But you'll be able to do some very fun stuff with it~.

Thanks, it's a proof of concept for now that may make it to multiplayer, mainly as a fun item-based TF-style game. No story ideas for it yet. but once i get something ok i'll put it up here.

i cant seem to find anything wrong with the guest rooms for the rank 3 guard mission. nothing registers and nothing looks wron

I took a look; it looks like the event flag placement was only working on one side. This update should fix that. Thanks for telling me.

Choosing duties doesn't seem to work.

For the maid side: the only duty that "kinda" works is the punishment where you have to work on the Laundry, but it's impossible to complete and whenever I try talking to the laundry maid inspector, she jus repeats the same thing over and over even when the task has been completed, the rest I tried to accept before going for the punishment task, but it doesn't acknowledge anything.

For the guard side: it starts working fine? Basically the only working quests at the start are the the training one and the the armory one. The first guard promotion task works just fine, but by after the first promotion the only task that works is the armours inspection. For the next promotion task it's hard to do because I cannot find the guest wing on the first floor and the stairs appear to be blocked by an invisible wall or something.

Hopefully these bugs get fixed, since the premise of the game is very intriguing.

I can only wish you the best, dear developer! 😄

Thank you for the feedback. I'll take a look at it soon.
I may  have to move all duties to the boards to make things a bit eaiser, along with the quest helper in the menu. and seems I thougth I fixed the flag for quest,  but seems it didn't go right. I'll have to double check how I have things set up.  I'll update as soon as I can.

I'll say too, this has been a passion project, I did and stopped a few times, what seems like 8 or so years of working on it, trashing and starting again. Starting from just XP and then VX,, over to MV, and now in MZ xD

I cannot start any maid tasks. The quest log says I need supplies from the Maid Storage Cleaning Station, which is not a room anywhere on the map. I can't get the tools, I can't do the tasks, I can't progress the game.

The commenter below me couldn't proceed at all either. There's a difference between releasing an early build and releasing a build with no play testing at all. Please actually confirm basic functionality of your game, and preferably have some friends do a bit of initial testing, before putting out a public release.

There is a room for it; it's in the maids' area. While not a full room, there is a room area built for it. While I've run through it, i'm seeing the problems as they are being brought up either a flag that got messed up or as the early one with not doing hidden task. But i'll have some other double run things for it and work on getting a proper update out for why its fail stating in such a early part.

How much of the game is done? Because I cannot do much of anything, and I can't tell if it's a bug or not.

Interacting with all the things at the checkpoint does not progress the quest, I cannot take any duties as either a guard or maid, and the only interactivity is being punished for entering the Head Maid/Guard's office as the opposing type. The punishment duty can be finished at least. And leaving the castle entirely to get the first bad end.

no that would be a bug.  you should be able to take tasks of the guard/maid the one you dressed as. I'll have to see where i missed a flag as the game is meant to be closer to 80% just in need of art and some other bits. thanks for pointing that out.

I should have it fixed from what I've seen; hopefully, things are fixed the rest of the way through.

they aren’t. I understand this is a work in progress and that you are only one person. HOWEVER-

Can only do training drill and armory inspection as guard. Maid storage room is either not labelled, or is hidden so well I cannot locate it. Is it that little section in the northwest area of the common room?

Referring to the guards by their duty in the work log is all well and good, except I have no idea who is what when all I have is their name.

Cannot switch jobs as either maid or guard. Attempting to change outfit only displays “change into guard uniform” when dressed as a guard, with both changing rooms. Vice versa when wearing a maid outfit.

Yes, that would be where it's at- just an offshoot room. It's not meant to be hidden, but I didn't want to put signs all over to guide either.

For the guard side, I can work on some clarity for it then. So it states where people are.

I'll add in i did have people looking over as i was going to the 80ish % mark, from what i can tell when i went to change one line of code for something it did the normal programer thing and broke 30+ other things.
